Cartmore: 1986-2016

2016 marks the 30 year anniversary for Cartmore.

Since opening for business on 1st November 1986 with no customers, no stock, no premises and no staff other than Gordon, a lot has changed and not just with Cartmore!

In 1986 the UK signed The Single European Act leading to a single European market, Alex Ferguson was appointed Manager of Manchester United and it was the 10 year anniversary of the British Concorde flight service

And today 30 years later we are preparing to leave the EU and potentially the single market, Fergie is no longer Manager at Old Trafford who are currently managed by Jose Mourinho and Concorde has been out of service for a long long time.

But the constant factor between 1986 and today is that Cartmore Building Supply Co Ltd have been supplying building materials to house builders, contractors and the DIY market. In 1986 we sold loads of 3×2 grey slabs, common bricks and clay pipe- today the range of decorative paving and slabs available to our customers is huge, dense concrete blocks have largely taken over from clay common bricks and upvc pipe from manufacturers such as Marley has replaced the once significant demand for fireclay pipe.

But Cartmore has changed with the times- from our first three tonne truck we now have a fleet of 5 modern HGV crane off-loading vehicles, we have opened our second depot, at Polmont, and our landscaping displays at both Lochgelly and Polmont are market leading visual presentations of the very best in materials and designs available today.
